MRCGP UK and job opportunities in Middle East

So many questions are asked about family medicine consultants to work in Middle East after having CCT & UK Passport. Middle East healthcare system is different from Europe and United Kingdom. There is no structured family medicine concept in Middle East. In most countries, Government and private health system run parallel. Private sector is mostly insurance based. Mostly residents have health insurance from the employer and can go to specialities and sub specialities directly.

In Government sector mostly simple medical graduates are hired as GP and paid low salaries. Same is in small private sectors. Simple medical graduates are hired to work as GP.

In addition, MRCGP international is well accepted and recognised in most Middle East countries and doctors are working there as specialist family medicine in different small medical centres and hospitals.
Only few prestigious private hospitals love to hire family medicine consultants with western qualifications and doctors who are hired once don’t like to leave the place as its very well paid.

So, when I say you need to struggle to get a best job that means there are very few jobs which can compete salary wise with UK income. Otherwise, there are jobs where you will be having £ 6000–7000 salary in general. This also need to consider if you are thinking to start a GP training in UK and planning to move to Middle East, then job situation will be much more difficult as lot of doctors already have plan to move to middle east after completing their CCT.

When you are considering your career and future settlement, then don’t decide on current job market. Think what market will be after 5-10 years? Good luck for training opportunities.
